Students perform best when they have a clear understanding of what is expected of them
and how they can best meet those expectations. Learning outcomes are formal statements
that articulate what students are able to do, know, and think at the end of the course or as
a result of instruction. This article addresses various measurement methods, how learning
outcomes are measured, what sort of learning outcomes are measured, and why learning
outcomes are measured in vocational training such as Jubail Technical Institute JTI.
Different methods of measuring learning outcomes are suggested and implemented.
Competency and project-based methods in pipe fitting skills, welding, machining, and
computer-aided design. Competency and certification in crane operation skills. In
Millwright skills, the competency method is sufficient.
